Tribute – Les Sargénts (for Mark & Arlyne Sargent)

To roast and toast the Sargents, we adapted and performed ten songs from Les Mis on May 23, 2012. Graeme Bird arranged the music and played piano; Jim Zingarelli played sax. Jeff Miller played Mark Sargént (Jean Valjean), Nate Baxter played Tenúre (Javert), I sang the Thenardier, and Steve Hunt played Westmont (“Bring Him Home”). The ensemble featured Tiffany Baxter, Jen and Paul Brink, Val Buchanan, Sandy Doneski, Bruce Herman, Norm Jones, Sharon Ketchum, Ruth Melkonian-Hoover, Laurie Truschel, and Jim Zingarelli.

Here’s the only video from this event that we know about. It’s Steve singing “Bring Them Home,” and it was shot by someone rocking a newborn.

Here’s a lyrics teaser. The complete lyrics with marginalia (gossip) are below.

Here are the complete lyrics and commentary.

And here’s the performance script, with narrations and blocking/seating arrangements for the performers, if anyone’s interested.
